In the modern fantasy, A Bad Case of the Stripes, Camilla is affected by peer pressure when she wants to eat lima beans, but her friends do not eat them so she chooses not to. The next day, Camilla wakes up covered in stripes. Despite her constant efforts, nobody can find a cure for these stripes. Eventually, Camilla is convinced to eat lima beans and the stripes miraculously go away.
I would use this book to stress the importance of self love to my class. It is important that students understand that it is okay to be themselves, and not everyone is going to like the same things.
The illustrations in this book are super bright and whimsical. The details of the illustrations are fascinating and would easily draw a student's attention.
