I am Rosa Parks tells the classic story of Rosa Parks and the impact she made in history. The great thing about this book is that it tells the story on a child's level. It tells about her background and the famous story of Rosa Parks not moving on the city bus. It also tells why this is significant and how she is a hero.
This book is great when teaching equality in the classroom. It would be awesome to read towards the beginning of the year to emphasize how each student in the classroom is equally important. It is also a great book to read when teaching diversity or during Black History Month.
The illustrations in this book are inviting and make it easier for the reader to follow. However, the reader would probably have a hard time keeping up if they struggled to read.
