This book is about a young boy imagining his trip to the moon. In the story, the author mixes factual information and history into the story line to provide an educational but exciting book. In the story, the young boy realizes that he loves his planet and how important it is to protect earth.
This book would be a great introduction to a science lesson about space, the moon, or even earth. The students are learning about our world without even realizing it. Before beginning, I may do a KWL chart with the students and see what they know before and after reading the book. Then we could add to the chart after the lesson.
The cartoon-like illustrations in this book do a great job of capturing the unique look of outer space. Because the illustrations are so different, students would definitely be attracted to the book.

Love your idea of doing a KWL chart!
