This book is a poetry book with silly poems for young kids. They are stories, which makes them easier for students to understand. They also rhyme, which is great for young children because they often only recognize poetry by it's rhyme.
Poetry is an awesome component in an elementary classroom. You can use multiple forms of reading and students are able to determine unfamiliar words due to the rhyme feature. Students could make motions to go with the poems or write their own poem after being introduced to it with this book.
The illustrations are minimal and simple. They are made with colored pencil and are sort of pastel. They would not do a good job of helping students decode the text, which is a draw back for younger grades. However, this would not be an issue when reading as a group.
